"Dick’s Sporting Goods says it won’t sell assault weapons anymore. It said the same thing in 2012.
The company made the same decision after Sandy Hook but says this time it’s permanent."

Dennis Hollingsworth Once more, for the slow, or those who refuse to ay attention. The Armalite Rifle (AR) type is no different than the Remingtons, Savages and others that have been used for nearly 100 years to hunt deer. With one notable exception, that is, that since the cartridge that the AR is most often using 5.56 NATO or 223 Rem, is 22 caliber, which is illegal to use for deer in most states BECAUSE IT IS UNDER POWERED and considered unable to guarantee a clean kill on deer sized game. That your statement that you don't know anyone who hunts with an AR type rifle belies your falsehoods is the fact that millions of Americans currently hunt with AR rifles, for varmints, predators and the like. With a different upper, such as the 6.5 calibers, or even 300 blackout (the same ballistics as your grandfather's 30-30) many thousands are hunting deer with them today. And since we're on the subject of 30-30's and grandfathers, do you recall the scandal of the early 20th century when, all the boys came back from the War, having used the new fangled and massively powerful 30-06 in bolt action Springfield? Then the controversy was "why does anyone need a 30-06 in bolt action to hunt deer, when we've been doing fine with the lever action 30-30 all these years?" Which, by the way, the lever action was a high powered repeating military rifle developed for the cavalry and no one could understand why anyone would need more than a single shot rifle for hunting. Any questions?
